| The economic capital of the country, Casablanca (4 million inhabitants) represents the modern face of Morocco. Conceived at the beginning of the twenties by the colonial power and Lyautey in particular. The first general resident made of it the mirror of the double mission assigned to the French presence in Morocco: a ' civilizing' vocation in the respect of the Moroccan traditions.
