| Safi, presentation of the city |
Where to sleep in Safi? |
| Safi spreads out on the edge of the Atlantic at the bottom of a handle framed cliff. It offers the triple attraction of ancient Portuguese buildings, a very active port and an animated city, with a vibrant medina and its famous potters’ district. |
Safi is one of the capitals of Moroccan ceramics, with its dark blue production and a local museum devoted to it. arranged in an Old Portuguese fortress, the Keshla. In the 20th century, the revival of the city came from industrial fishing: the sardine is the speciality of Safi since the incredible development of the canning facility which opened to its fishermen an enormous market. Then the phosphates, that invaded the quays, involved the extension and the modernization of the port (developing a vast industrial park). |
