| The Thomas careers are located 8 km to the south east of Casablanca. |
They owe their interest to the remainders of Homo-erectus which were found there (mandible, cranial fragments and jawbone) and which are associated to an Acheulian Lithic industry and extremely diversified faunal remainders. Chronologically, the specimens probably date from the beginning of the Tensiftien with an age that borders 400.000 years. In addition in 1986, the stratigraphic revision of the Thomas career enabled the discovery of tools dating from the old Acheulian whose age is |
| estimated to 700.000 years. This industry is regarded as being the surest testimony of the human presence in Morocco, presence which could date from the very beginning of the middle Pleistocene. |
