| In edge of the cedars forest, a very soft slope inclines to the refuge, favourable to the beginners’ tests and initiation. With immediate proximity, in particular to the place called "the Large Crater" of Mishlifen, vast natural circus, other more or less strong slopes of unevenness, are offered to the experienced skiers in a real beautiful ski resort which keeps attracting thousands of winter sports amateurs. |
The Middle Atlas was the first to see evolving the Skiers in Morocco, and it is the city of Azrou which had the privilege to attract the first sportsmen since 75 year ago. In the beginning of the Thirties, a French skier Mr. Malicet, former pupil of the Megene School, created a movement favourable to the development of the Ski by organizing the first school of Ski in Morocco. Thus the first Ski Club in Morocco saw the day in 1932 with the birth of the club of Meknes then another one in |
Azrou. In 1934, the first snow festival was thus organized in Azrou. In 1936 the Ski Club of Ifrane was created. Since 1937, the Ski Club of Ifrane built there a country cottage-refuge. Then, the ski league of the French Federation saw the day in Morocco so to coordinate and organize the activities of these clubs and to contribute to the promotion of the winter sports in Morocco during the Thirties. In 1957 the Moroccan Royal federation of Ski was created. Nowadays, thanks to the efforts made recently by the province of Ifrane, this beautiful station of mountain and winter sports was recently equipped with a small ski-lift, of a reception centre arranged in hotel classified 3 star and of a reception centre of mountain and winter sports. |
