| The weapon museum is situated in a military stronghold built in 1582 on order of the Sultan Ahmed El Mansour to supervise and protect the city of Fez against foreign threats. |
In 1963, this fort becomes the weapon museum by sheltering the collection of "Dar Snah". Installed earlier in the Batha palace, this collection comes mainly from the Makina, an arsenal founded by the sultan Moulay Hassan 1st at the end of the XIXth century. Various collections are presented there, hunting and defence weapons dating from prehistory, bronze Moroccan cannon from the XVIth century, in general more than 1000 pieces distributed in 15 different rooms.... |
