1909: Spain begins the military conquest of the Rif crescent.
1912: Nomination of the General Lyautey to the rank of general resident of Morocco, Rabat becomes the capital.
November 18, 1927: Establishment of his Majesty Mohammed V.
July 9, 1929: Birth of his Majesty the King Hassan II.
August 20, 1953 his Majesty Mohammed V and the Royal family were exiled to Madagascar.
November 16, 1955: Return from exile of the Royal family.

France of the agreements recognizing the independence of Morocco.
April 7, 1956: Signature with Spain of the agreements allowing Morocco to recover its Northern part.
April 22, 1956: Morocco is accepted as UN member.
1958: Recuperation of the province of Tarfaya, which was under Spanish domination, and abrogation of the statute of "international city" allotted to Tangier.
February 26, 1961: Death of his Majesty Mohammed V.
March 3, 1961: Establishment of the Crown prince Moulay Hassan as a King of Morocco.
December 1962: Adoption by referendum of the first Constitution making of Morocco a Constitutional monarchy.
1969: The town of Sidi Ifni is freed from the Spanish occupation.
November 6, 1975: Launching of Green Walk: 350.000 Moroccan volunteers answered the call of his Majesty the King by crossing the artificial border which separates Morocco from its Sahara.
November 14, 1975: Signature of the Madrid agreement concerning the retrocession of the Sahara to Morocco.
May 1990: His Majesty the King announces the creation of the Humans rights Advisory Council.
August 29, 1993: Inauguration of the Mosque Hassan II in Casablanca.
July 23, 1999: Death of his Majesty the King Hassan II.
July 23, 1999: Accession to the Throne of his Majesty the King Mohammed VI.
February 2, 2002: Signature in Tangier of a pact of honour regarding the defence of children rights.
21 The Mars 2002: Conclusion in the Royal Palace of Rabat of the marriage certificate of SM the King Mohammed VI to Lalla Salma.
May 8, 2003: Birth of HRH the Crown prince Moulay Al Hassan in the royal Palace of Rabat. |
