Marrakesh, the district of Gueliz - 1.

| The district of Gueliz was created in 1920, under the Protectorate, to place in its villas the French and European families. |
Today, Gueliz still remains a residential district with large avenues.
It extends to the west and north of the medina, to the feet of djebel Gueliz, the mountain from where the schistous sandstone was extracted and which served in the construction of the principal monuments of the city. |
